An Oystergard Day @ Hood Canal

Doug working on getting that oyster open.

Donna, Doug, Rudy, and Herm proud of their oyseter finds.

Now that is TEAMWORK!!

I am hacking onto Donna's Blog while she is playing cards with the boys. Doug, Rudy, Blaze and I had an incredible day with Donna and Herm at Hood Canal. We have been hearing how much they enjoy the canal this time of year and how great the oysters have been. Rudy loves oysters and has always wanted to go with Nana and Papa to get them. At two o'clock sharp we headed down to the beach for an hour of picking and shucking oysters. The first ten minutes were a bit harry as Doug cut his finger and was bleeding all over. It didn't stop him from trying. Donna had to take over as he was having issues cracking that darn shell. She gave him oyster shucking 101. Donna and Herm are experts at shucking. Rudy and Doug were their assistants. They worked like a fine tuned machine and in no time had a cooler full of meaty oysters. I just stood back in amazement and snapped pictures of their teamwork. Great work OYSTERgard's!!!

The rest of the day we spent taking a drive around the canal. Herm cooked the oysters and we enjoyed a wonderful dinner. The only thing that would have made the day more perfect was to have Garrett here. He is enjoying being with his baseball team at WSU in Pullman for a tournament. His first tourney without dad or mom.

Thanks for the memory making weekend.
