Emily and Kids

It was so good to see Emily and the kids, they are all doing great.
Evelyn is now 8, Vivian 7, and Magnus is 4.
Emily just received her 2 year degree but will be continuing on for a 4 year degree in accounting.
She is now off for the summer.
Bill will be visiting in just 1 week. They are all excited over that, they all love to have family visit them. I think that they might be a little lonesome but nobody wants to move back to Portland, they all love it in Cedar Rapids, the kids go to a Catholic School and all of them including Emily have joined the Catholic Church. Last year Evelyn had her First Communion and now Vivian is getting ready for hers.
Magnus is all boy, with him it is dinosaurs, jumping and his gameboy. He sure did seem tall for 4 years old, and does not have any of the shyness that is typical of a Ostergard. When he wanted ketchup he did not hesitate asking the waitress for it or for more butter.
They have a beautiful Mansion in Cedar Rapids it is the largest West of the Mississippi, we asked Emily about the history of it. It was Evelyn who knew the whole story, it was built by the founder of Quaker Oats and they are still making oatmeal in Cedar Rapids. Emily said on some days you can smell it all over town.
We all went to the Amana Colonies, amanacolonies.com for dinner. It was prepared by the Amish and is served family style. Everything is homemade even the cottage cheese and sauerkraut. I guess we are no longer in the South, no more sweet tea, in the south they serve sweet tea everyplace even at McDonalds, but they still call it supper here and not dinner.

The Amana Colonies was started in 1840 and is now a historical town. We found it to be very interesting and everything is so well kept.
