Here are some pictures that we took when we visited Mascota. Thse are 3 small villages in the mountains. We stopped in Mascota and San Sabastian. Not enough time to visit Talpa. Maybe next year we can go back and spend the night, that way we will have enough time to visit all three. Talpa is suppose to have the most beautiful Cathedral of the three. This is where they crawl on their hands and knees to pay their respects. Wish we would not have run out of time.

The two towns we visited were founded in the late 1700's. San Sabastian is a silver minning town. Both places were so clean and not timeshare or souvenier stands.
We had lunch in the courtyard of this old inn, they had no menu's and spoke no English. The cook just brought us out what she thought we would like. The first dish was maccaroni and cheese, seemed strange for MX. , next was chicken enchalada's with lettuce and tomatoes. It was a lot of food, and very good. I don't think this was a paticularly clean place, they did not even have any bottled water. But nobody got sick and the whole meal with 2 beers and 4 dinners came to $10.00. What a deal!!

Ubove is the picture of the cook and her courtyard. I suppose she used to rent out rooms, or maybe she still does.
Before the new bridge it would take 5-6 hours to drive to these towns. The bridge just opened and it is only about a 2-3 hour drive now. The bridge spans a really deep canyon and the rails are not that tall. I am sure Dave would be taking pictures. Herm just drove really fast and we prayed that we would not have a eathquake.
