We Have A Baby Hummingbird

Mama Hummingbird built this nest out of spiderwebs in our orange tree.  Within a couple of days of taking this picture their were 2 eggs in it.  Last night we had a huge windstorm and we were both worried that the nest may have blown out of the tree.  First thing this morning Herm went out to take a peek and to his surprise the egg burst open and we have one baby hummingbird.  There is still one more egg to hatch, but it may not happen.  I would love to have a picture of the baby but we don't want to disrupt it and scare the Mama away.
We were going to leave tomorrow (Tues.) for our trip home, but the weather has been so nice here that we extended a couple of days.  We are getting the motorhome loaded and will hit the road on Thurs.this time we will go through Colorado,Wyoming and Utah. Will be back in Portland on July 1st.  It will be good to be back, we are missing our family and friends.
Now we are worried about who who will feed the hummingbirds while we are gone, Herm read that they double their weight in the first day and will be flying in 3 weeks. That baby is going to need a lot of energy, so guess we will ask the lady that watches our house to refill the feeder too.
