Heading North

We are on our way North and will be back in Portland by Memorial Day. We spent the weekend with Mark and family. The weather was  very chilly, it is unseasonably cold here in the Sacramento Delta area. I was hoping that I could go swimming in the pool, but it is to cold for the kids to even think about swimming. Maybe next fall on our way South it will be warmer. It should be in the mid 90's by now, not in the upper 60's or low 70's. We were not 2 hours out of Palm Desert and the drive turned into a challenge. There were high winds and when we had no wind we had the dreaded fog.  I think that last Thursday was the worse day of driving that we have ever had. I wanted to just pull over but Herm said that would be silly and just held the wheel tight.  We did have a short day of driving, we stayed in Bakersfield. Now we are hoping that we won't run into snow coming over the Siskiyou's, they are predicting a major snow storm in the Lake Tahoe area.
We  had a great time at the kids, with the cool weather we spent a lot of time cooking inside, Casey's  favorite thing to make is Great Uncle Johns Carmel Nut Bars they must have been good because in just a couple of hours they were all gone.
Challeigh who turned 21 May 10th is now a expert mixologist.  She made us some excellent mango mint drinks. She served them with some fancy straws, we felt like we were in an expensive restaurant.
Mark did some great barbecue he is showing his dad why charcoal is better than gas and then a discussion on which is the best rub. Mark likes Pappy's and Herm is Montreal Seasoning guy. My vote goes for the charcoal, I love that flavor.
We have always called grandson Herman "little Herman" he is no longer little. He has shot straight up, I can't believe how tall he is. We need to change his name, just don't know what it will be, or maybe we can call Herm "Old Herm".
The kids went to school today and the parents back to work so we came back to our coach. We have only spent one night in it since leaving Palm Desert. It will take us a little time to get back in the RV groove again. It seems like the kitchen shrunk in size since last fall when we last used it. But the closet's seem much larger because we no longer need to carry every piece of clothing that we own.

It is hard to tell Mother from Daughter, Mom is on the left.
